Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA)
Sydnie Peña is a BCaBA (Board Certified assistant Behavior Analyst) in Miami, Florida. She graduated with a Master’s Degree of Arts in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) from the University of West Florida and has been in the field of ABA for 7 years. Her interest in the field first peaked when she witnessed her older brother receiving ABA services and realized what a beautiful and worthwhile profession ABA could be. Sydnie experienced working with children with developmental disabilities for the first time as a Research Assistant for the PALM Lab (Program for Attention, Learning, and Memory) at Florida International University as an undergraduate. The position involved researching and studying working memory in children with ADHD at FIU’s Summer Treatment Program. Shortly after, Sydnie worked as a Behavior Technician at a children’s school for developmental disabilities where she completed direct therapy within a school curriculum in a multi-disciplinary environment of Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Pathologists, Special Education teachers, and more. Sydnie then worked as a BCaBA for a behavioral therapy clinic in which she experienced providing home, school, clinic, and remote-based sessions. During her time there, she gained experience completing caregiver and staff training, assisting in assessments, and further practiced the use of evidence-based treatments in behavioral therapy.
