Melissa Morales

Registered Behavior Technician (RBT)

Melissa Morales is currently majoring in Psychology at Florida International University (FIU). She was born in Cuba and came to this country when she was 13 years old. Melissa had no idea what she wanted to study but she always knew she wanted a job where she would have the opportunity to help those with special needs. When Melissa started college, she was pursuing her career in nursing, but she was not happy with that career choice. She started volunteering at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital doing shadowing work with a nurse and that’s where she met this little girl named Katie, who was diagnosed with autism and was non-verbal which made it quite challenging for her to communicate with her. Melissa started researching about Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and it was at this point after extensive research that she fell in love with this field. Melissa expressed how much she wanted to help kids like Katie become the best version of themselves and bring a positive impact in their lives. Melissa plans to pursue her dream and eventually become a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).
